Victorian Christmas Fayre in Old Glossop

Old Glossop will once again be transformed into the Victorian Christmas Fayre this weekend.

Held from 1pm to 6pm on Sunday, highlights will include carol singing round the Christmas tree at the Old Cross, as well as the chance to see Father Christmas on his sleigh courtesy of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.

Dave Scanlon, Chair of Old Glossop Residents' Association, said: "We're delighted to be staging the event after a Covid-induced break, and are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the fayre.

"With 36 stalls selling traditional crafts, handmade Christmas gifts, local produce and ales, mulled wine and hot food, there's something for everyone.

"Traditional Christmas music will be on offer from Dark Peak Music and Glossop Choral Society - and Milltown Cloggies will be performing.

"All three local pubs - the Queen's, the Bull's Head and the Wheatsheaf - plus vegetarian cafe Shepley's will also have food and drink on offer.

"Visitors will also be able to enjoy the peal of bells from Glossop Parish Church."

Staged by Old Glossop Residents' Association, half of the proceeds will go to Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.

Entry to the event is one penny - to meet licensing requirements - and this will be collected by and donated to 3rd Glossop Scouts.

Church Street South will be closed to traffic from 8.30am to 6pm on the day.
