Support for Glossop woman's trek gathers pace

Cash is pouring into Helen Thornhill’s appeal to raise money for Tameside, Oldham and Glossop Mind.

Last week, we revealed how the 47-year-old from Glossop was in the middle of running the height of Mount Everest - in 30 1,000ft runs up hills near her home.

She is doing it in memory of her dad Barrie Tyson, who took his own life 10 years ago at the age of 65.

Helen called the Chronicle this week to say: “Thank you for running the article.

“Over the course of last weekend, donations continued to come in and I’m now at £1,300. That’s a fantastic amount, so thank you for helping spread the word.”
