Stones thrown at elderly couple's Hadfield home

An elderly couple in Hadfield who have been subjected to a spate of anti-social behaviour for several weeks have had stones thrown at their house.

Police say it happened sometime between 2pm and 2.30pm last Sunday afternoon (20 December) at the property on Newlands Drive.

It is believed that a group of youths, three boys and one girl, were in the vicinity at the time and one member of the group threw the stones.

Police say the couple have been targeted for "a few weeks" but hadn't reported it until Tuesday (22 December).

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 or report it online at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/contactus, quoting occurrence reference 20000674639 and the officer in the case PCSO 4415 Buller.

It's the latest in a long line of incidents in the Hadfield area recently.

Another elderly resident was left distressed and alarmed after mud was thrown at a window of their property twice in the space of two days at the top of Chapel Lane, on Friday (18 December) and then Saturday evening (19 December).

Last week, police warned parents that youths "causing issues in our community" will be "dealt with in the appropriate way".

Officers are asking parents to make sure they are aware of what their children are doing, and are also urging residents to report any incidents directly to the police - and not through social media.
