Residents turn out to tackle litter in Carmel Community Clean Up

A group of dedicated residents took part in the latest Carmel Community Clean Up in the Hadfield and Padfield area.

A total of 19 adults and children from Hadfield, Padfield, Tintwistle and Glossop popped down to Carmel Church on Station Road to tackle litter in the local community last Saturday (7 August).

Padfield borough councillor and High Peak deputy mayor Ollie Cross also took part and thanked those who gave up their time to get involved.

The group were treated to bacon and sausage sandwiches, as well as croissants, afterwards.

Cllr Cross said: "A huge thank you to Matt from Tesco Express for the extremely generous food donation to the Hadfield Coming Together group. All of us at Hadfield Coming Together are incredibly grateful for the brilliant support that we receive from the team at Tesco Hadfield.

"Also, a big shout out to the Parks & Streets Team at High Peak Borough Council for agreeing to pick up the several bags of litter and debris we collected. We had a decent turnout considering the ominous grey skies and I'm pleased to say that the little bit of drizzle failed to dampen our spirits."

The next Carmel Community Clean Up will take place on Saturday 4 September. All are welcome and equipment will be provided.

Anyone who takes part will be treated to bacon and sausage butties afterwards too.
