Repair Café launching in Hadfield

A Repair Café is being held at the Methodist Church on Station Road in Hadfield on Saturday (21 May).

Volunteers are offering to fix clothing, bikes, computers and upholstery.

Rev Natalie Hackett told us: "We’ll be offering free repairs to the local community and alongside that we’ll have an affordable café selling drinks and cakes. Most of our volunteer repairers are from the local community.”

Elspeth Levitan is one of the volunteers who sews. She said: "We want to expand the things we can repair. We also have volunteers manning the café.”

Rev Natalie added: "Many of us are becoming more aware of the climate crisis. A lot of us are also struggling with money. So we hope that as well as repairing items we can also teach you how to do it too.”

The Repair Café will take place on the third Saturday of every month.

The first one will take place on Saturday and then will feature different repairers each month.

Mayor and Mayoress of High Peak, Councillor Ollie Cross and his wife Gill, will attend the first Repair Café.
