Pop-up school uniform event in Gamesley

There was a good turnout for The Hummingbird Hubs' recent uniform pop-up event at Victoria Hall in Glossop.

A local group will be holding a 'pop-up' event in Gamesley to allow parents to swap their child's uniforms for the next size up ready for the new academic year in September.

It's been organised by The Hummingbird Hubs, which supports people affected by poverty, homelessness and austerity.

It will take place on Monday 16 August at Cafe Jericho, from 4pm to 6pm.

Everyone is welcome.

There will be a wide range of re-gifted primary and secondary school uniform, shoes, pumps, coats, PE kits and bags.

Anyone who has any items they would like to donate can take them to the event or donate beforehand by calling Jo Gregory on 07748 067 169 or Hazel Atherton on 07832 925 377.

Jo, from The Hummingbird Hubs, said: "A huge thank you to Nick and Donna at Cafe Jericho for allowing us to hold our event there.

"We will be giving away uniform for all schools, not just the Gamesley ones, as we know people have children at lots of different schools in the area.

"We also need more donations, especially school, book and PE bags, white polo shirts, Gamesley logo'd jumpers and cardigans and all secondary school uniform for Longdendale, Glossopdale and St Philip Howard."

More than 1,500 items of free school uniform and shoes were given out to the Glossopdale community at a 'pop-up shop' that the group held at Victoria Hall in Glossop recently.

There will be another event at Victoria Hall on Sunday 22 August.
