Police warning after windows smashed and items taken from vehicles

Police are reminding people to be vigilant and take precautions as they investigate windows being smashed and items taken from vehicles in Buxton.

Vehicles on Lightwood Road and Manchester Road have had their passenger side windows broken and items subsequently taken from within.

It happened sometime between 8pm on Monday evening (June 29) and 6am on Tuesday (June 30).

Buxton Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team is warning both residents and offenders.

They said: "Please be careful as to what we leave in our vehicles, anything of value should be removed and vehicles should ideally be parked where there is sufficient lighting.

"We ask that if you see something you report it as these criminals are not welcome in Buxton. Vehicle crime is not only one of our priorities but it is of great inconvenience to the victim who often foots the bill for new windows, paint repairs or other damage."

Anyone who has any information about the aforementioned thefts is asked to get in touch with police, quoting reference number 20000332142 via the following methods:

• Facebook – send a private message to /DerbyshireConstabulary
• Twitter – direct message the contact centre on @DerPolContact

• Phone – call 101.

People can also call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

In the event of an emergency, you should always call 999.
