Glossop’s YET Youth Engagement Team has been visiting Year 6 pupils.
PCSO's Buller and Walsh went along to Dinting C Of E Primary School and Whitfield St James' CE (VC) Primary School to talk to the youngsters who are all aged 10 and 11.
The aims and objectives of the visit was to talk about the age of criminal responsibility for young people that begins at age 10 and what it means.
The consequences lesson focussed on 'What is a crime' and the different types of crimes including punishments and sentences etc.
Also discussed were the direct and indirect impacts of crime "The Ripple Effect" and how it effects victims, perpetrators, family, and the community.
The youngsters were told how they could and should report and tell trusted adults, such as teachers, parents, mentors, or the police about crime. They were also made aware of how crime can be reported anonymously using sites such as Fearless.org - or by 101 or 999.
Glossop YET would like to thank the staff for accommodating the visit and input – with a big thank you to the pupils who took part.
