Police issue message after spate of anti-social behaviour

Police have issued a strong message to parents of youngsters in and around Whaley Bridge following a spate of recent incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Buxton Police Safer Neighbourhood Team say they have received reports of 'a number of incidents regarding kids banging on doors and windows terrorising residents'.

They have mainly occurred around Wharf Road and Lower Macclesfield Road, with most of the victims being elderly and vulnerable.

A Buxton Police SNT spokesperson said: "If you know your child/children are in this group of kids out in the evening till after 11pm, please sit them down and have a stern word with them regarding what seems like a bit of harmless fun for kids, could actually be life threatening for some elderly and those who suffer health conditions.

"No, this isn't a case of 'kids just being kids', it isn't nice to target individual properties time and time again.

"I'm sure you wouldn't want your grandparents treated like this, so it needs to STOP!"
