Police investigating late-night town centre altercation

Police are investigating after two groups of people were involved in a late-night altercation in Buxton town centre. 

Police believe it was an isolated incident and say support is being given to the victims. 

The groups were embroiled in an altercation near to the Wye Bridge House pub on Fairfield Road at around midnight last night (Monday). 

It continued to the Palace Hotel on Palace Road before the group were described as running off in the direction of the train station. 

Officers from Buxton Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team are appealing for witnesses who may have been at the Wye Bridge House or may have been in the area and have dash cam footage. 

Anyone who can help police with their enquiries is asked to call 101 or report it online at www.derbyshire.police.uk, quoting incident 17-180521.
