Police break up groups of 'very drunk' youths at playing fields

Police are warning parents to make sure they know where their children are, after having to break up around 60 youths who were drinking and climbing on the roof of changing rooms.

Buxton Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team received the reports that a large number of youths were congregated on the playing fields off Green Lane in Buxton on Tuesday evening (30 March).

When they attended at around 9pm, they were confronted by 'many groups' - all in breach of the rule of six - while 'most' of them were 'very drunk'.

Officers also said 'the mess left behind by most' was 'nothing short of disgraceful'.

They are once again reminding parents and guardians to ensure they know the whereabouts of their children.

After the relaxing of some coronavirus restrictions earlier this week, people can now gather with either two households or up to six people outdoors, including in parks and private gardens. Social distancing still applies to any people from different households meeting.
