Plenty of hops, skips and jumps from Glossopdale kids

Willow Wood Hospice mascot Woody has been hopping into Glossopdale quite a few times recently to thank children for raising lots of money for his favourite charity.

Over the last few weeks schools and nurseries have been holding sponsored Bunny Hops which have brought in thousands of pounds for the Tameside-based charity.

Some of the children even wore rabbit ears as they had a fabulous  time hopping, skipping and jumping for a great local cause.

Little Stars Day Nursery in Hadfield said the hop was an opportunity for the children to explore their physical skills, as well as raising money for the charity.

The older children had an obstacle course to follow as they hopped - testing their balance and co-ordination.

The younger children practiced hopping and jumping while developing their motor skills.

As a result, Little Stars managed to raise a massive £2,016.55 for Willow Wood and as a special thank you Woody the Bear came to visit the children to present them with a giant cheque.  The youngsters got to meet Woody while staying socially distanced and in Covid-safe bubbles. They also enjoyed posing for a photo with their new friend.

It was a similar tale at Gamesley Early Excellence Centre where the 60 children raised a fantastic £2,262.

All wearing big beaming smiles, they hopped, skipped and jumped to their hearts’ content, both inside the centre and, when sun came out, in the spacious grounds.
