Plans for new defibrillator in Glossop looking more positive

The Bureau on Henry Street in Glossop.

Plans for a potentially life-saving defibrillator to be installed in Glossop town centre are looking more positive.

An application was submitted last year for the defibrillator to go on the wall of The Bureau on Henry Street, but as it is a listed building within a conservation area, concerns were raised.

A meeting was held last Wednesday to go through the issues raised by both County Highways and High Peak Borough Council’s Conservation Officers.

Cllr Damien Greenhalgh said: “It was very positive. Everyone is trying to find a positive solution and some ideas were shared.”

Now all parties are looking at the suggestions put forward in the hope of finding a solution acceptable to all parties.

The defibrillator was gifted to The Bureau from Glossopdale School when they moved to the newly built school in Hadfield.

Funding for siting the defibrillator has already been secured with a £500 donation from Glossopdale Masonic Lodge and further funding from Cllr Greenhalgh’s High Peak Borough Council Councillor’s Initiative Fund.
