Over £1m in drugs and cash seized in Derbyshire in six months

More than a million pounds worth of drugs and cash has been seized by Derbyshire's road crime team since January.

The SALCU team, which uses a fleet of high-performance unmarked cars to proactively prevent and detect crime, last week smashed through the million-pound mark of cash and drugs seized.

Following last week's seizure of cannabis and cocaine worth £97,000 – the total currently stands at £1,079,553.92 – with cash seized amounting to £589,913.92 and drugs totting up to £489,640.

Sergeant Remi Hopkins, who leads the roads policing team, said: “That we have passed this total in just six months is testament to the hard work and dedication of the team and the excellent teamwork with colleagues across the force.

"With drugs taken off the streets and money taken out of the pockets of criminals the total should also act as a warning - if you come to Derbyshire and use the roads to commit crime then expect to see the team in your rear-view mirror."

Police are also encouraging anyone who suspects that drug dealing may be taking place in their community to contact Derbyshire police using any of the below methods, in confidence, at any time:
