Organisations urged to apply for funding for drug and alcohol recovery projects

Derbyshire County Council is encouraging local organisations to apply for funding to help support people in their recovery journeys.

Small groups and charities can apply for up to £40,000 from the council’s Recovery from Alcohol and Drug Dependence grant to help fund two-year recovery projects.

The activities or project proposed must cover a two-year period, of which the county council will fund for the first year.

Derbyshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, Councillor Carol Hart, said: “Recovery is all about people being able to regain control of their lives, improve their physical and mental wellbeing and fulfil their potential.

“This funding will enable even more local groups to provide support and advice for people making the first steps to recovery.”

Organisations will need to demonstrate how their projects will help Derbyshire residents throughout treatment and into long-term recovery.

Successful bidders will also have to show they have funding for the second year of their project.

Support could include activities to:

  • Improve physical and mental health and wellbeing
  • Provide education, skills training, volunteering and employment
  • Help develop social networks
  • Develop financial capability
  • Develop positive thinking and effective decision making
  • Build confidence and self-esteem

There is an eligibility cap of £1 million on the annual income of the organisations who are able to bid for the grant.

The deadline for applications is Friday 15 October 2021 at midday.
