On track on new community running trail in Glossop

Glossopdale Community Running Track was officially opened last Sunday in the presence of top athletes.

A large group of runners gathered at the start of the track at the end of Green Lane in Simmondley.

Glossopdale Harriers coach Jeroen Peters, who created the track on part of the Simmondley to Broadbottom trail, said: "Not affected by the coronavirus - Steve Vernon, Jonny Mellor and Jip Vastenburg of Team New Balance all turned out to support the event."

Steve expressed his delight with the facility and has already said that he and his athletes will start using the track for some of their training.

Sessions take place Tuesdays at 6.45pm, not always on the track, but throughout Glossop and Hadfield.

Anyone interested can find out where the sessions are on the website: https://glossopdaleharriers.wordpress.com/training/speed-training/

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Glossopdale Harriers, based on government advice and that of the governing body, have decided to cancel all sessions until further notice.

"I would like to encourage all who are interested in running and some structured training, to keep an eye on the website for further updates and see when sessions start up again," said Glossopdale Harriers’ coach Jeroen Peters.
