NOSTALGIA: Danger area leaves Glossop traffic in a tight spot

ROAD BLOCKER: A double decker emerging into Norfolk Street from Henry Street, which the Chronicle described as a danger spot.

Traffic must have been pretty sparse in Glossop town centre 75 years ago, but the Chronicle had identified a 'danger spot'.

It figured the junction of Norfolk Street and Henry Street was an accident waiting to happen.

In those days, Henry Street was 'two way' with traffic getting on and off by Norfolk Street and Railway Street.

Vehicles were permitted to park on all three, which were also used by double decker buses, so entry and exit was 'tricky'.

Glossop Trades Council, which was calling for parking restrictions, said Norfolk Street was regularly blocked by vehicles exiting from Henry Street.
