Nostalgia: A summer celebration in Glossop

A sunny day in June 1911 and Glossop people were wearing their Sunday best for a special celebration.

Hundreds of miles away in London, the coronation of King George V and Queen Mary was taking place in Westminster Abbey and communities all over the country were playing their part.

Our main picture shows children waving Union flags as they walk proudly past huge crowds down Railway Street in Hadfield.

The one below shows people posing for the photographer at a fete that appears to have been in Manor Park.
