New community pantry open in New Mills

A new community pantry has opened its doors in New Mills to support families in need.

It's been launched by New Mills Youth and Community Project - a not-for-profit organisation which was set up to benefit the community by helping to tackle a wide range of local social and environmental issues.

The community pantry, based at the Indoor Market Hall, is now open every Tuesday and Saturday between 10am and 2pm. It's open to all and there's no criteria to be met.

Only members can use the community pantry so people should register for membership online at www.nmycp.co.uk

Alternatively, there are membership registration forms available at the community pantry. People are welcome to either take one and fill it out at home then return it when convenient, or fill it out at the pantry.

Membership is £5 per year and it costs £2.50 per shop (Tuesday and Saturday).

Anyone who becomes a member will get a reusable shopping bag too.

To ensure there are enough goods to support everyone, items are limited to up to 10 for households of one or two people, and up to 15 items for households of three or more people.

Two donation points have been set up at the community pantry and donations of the following items would be gratefully accepted:
