Much-loved festival is returning to New Mills

After a two-year break, the much-loved One World Festival in New Mills will return on Saturday (2 July).

The popular, fun-packed community event will be held from midday to 6pm in High Lea Park.

The free event celebrates peace, the environment, cultural diversity, and world development, with the theme being ‘Reconnect: with the world, your community and each other.’

Run by volunteers from the community, the family friendly event will include stalls, activities, food, and bands.

Sophie Mackreth, one of the volunteers running the festival, said: “The community of New Mills has pulled together through this time of crisis. Now it is time to share some fun.”

Stalls confirmed include Stand Up to Racism, Walkers are Welcome, Home Farm, Zink Employability, Chernobyl Children’s Project, New Mills Fashion Week, Stockport for Peace, and Transition New Mills. Being Outdoors and Youth Matters New Mills are providing outdoor fun for children. Cobalt Tales, Raintown Seers, Ultrabyte, Lazlo Baby and Modern Day Saints, are performing.
