MP urges RMT to call off rail strikes

Three days of national strike action is set to widespread disruption to rail services.

The rail strike called by the RMT union will take place on Tuesday 21st, Thursday 23rd, and Saturday 25th June.

However, train operator Northern is advising passengers to make alternative plans for travel between Tuesday 21 and Sunday 26 June due to the impact the strike will have.

High Peak MP Robert Largan is calling on the union to call off the strike.

He said: “I am no union-basher. My dad was a trade union rep, and I am very proud of the work he did in standing up for the people he worked with.

“However, the RMT has got its tactics and timing very badly wrong.

“I sincerely hope they reconsider strike action so that we can avoid disruption for High Peak residents, consumers and businesses.”
