Mountain rescue warning to walkers

Now the clocks have gone back and the weather is turning much colder, walkers taking to the hills and moors are being urged not to get caught out.

They are being asked to plan ahead and make sure they pack the appropriate gear before venturing out.

This includes making sure they pack a torch and keep a spare torch/batteries in their pack, along with warm and waterproof clothing.

Mountain Rescue England and Wales are also encouraging people to download their latest safety leaflets produced in collaboration with AdventureSmarkUK and Cicerone that can be accessed through their website https://www.mountain.rescue.org.uk/

The High Peak has four mountain rescue teams within its boundaries and their volunteers are on call 24/7 365 days year.
