Mountain rescue volunteers have been in action, helping three walkers and a climber injured in separate incidents in the Peak District.

On Friday afternoon (5 August), both Edale and Buxton MRTs went to the aid of a walker who had injured their ankle while walking on the Pennine Way in the Edale Valley.

Then on Saturday afternoon (6 August), a walker suffered an ankle injury whilst descending the steps from the summit to Mam Nick.

Team members were quickly on scene and the walker was brought back down on a stretcher to the road for onward transport to hospital.

Then on Sunday afternoon (7 August), Edale MRT were called out twice.

A walker in the Fairholmes area had fallen suffering a suspected fractured wrist. The team were able to drive one of their 4x4 vehicles along a farm track arriving on scene quickly.

After the walker was given pain relief and their wrist was splinted, they were transported back to the car park for onward transport to Northern General Hospital and further treatment.

A short time later, the team were called to Millstone Edge where a climber had fallen four metres injuring their leg.

The climber was treated at the scene and carried on a stretcher to a waiting ambulance from the East Midlands Ambulance Service and taken to the Northern General Hospital and further treatment.
