Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team is used to dealing with emergencies and now it's got one of its own.
At the end of last year, the team had to 'retire' one of its operational vehicles and that means its 'blue line' fleet urgently needs a replacement.
In an online appeal for help, Woodhead MRT says it needs £40,000 to buy a nearly new ‘super capable’ all terrain Land Rover Discovery to become the primary off-road response vehicle for the next 10 years or more.
In a statement the team - which receives no state aid - said: “We are asking the generous business community and good people who want to support the essential life-saving volunteer work of mountain rescue, to come to our aid and help us reach our crucial target.”
There are a number of ways that individuals and organisations can help.
One is the chance for them or a loved one to be named on a ‘window of well wishers’ on the new vehicle’s rear windscreen.
The offer is for any pledges greater than £100 on the team’s Crowdfunding page.
For any businesses who want to support the appeal there are a number of sponsorship packages.

In addition to space on the new vehicle, the team is offering other opportunities for businesses including: appearing on its website, photo opportunities, social media coverage and even the chance to get staff involved in its training exercises.
