Massive step forward for Tintwistle Cricket Club plans

Efforts to redevelop the cricket pavilion at Tintwistle Cricket Club have taken a massive step forward after High Peak Borough Council approved the plans.

The club is looking to replace the existing outdated wooden pavilion with a new building which includes a modern light and user-friendly club house space as well as upgraded changing facilities for players and umpires.

Tintwistle CC Chairman Stuart Rose said: “What these means is we are one step closer to having a facility to protect the future of the cricket club for many years to come.

“It also means we have a facility that the community and use and enjoy which is much needed in the village.

“We also continue to work with the HPBC to improve the parking on Speedwell Close and hope to see progress on this in the coming months.”

A combination of funding from Sports England, ECB, HPBC and other organisations, along with club generated funds means they are getting close to their target for the project, with a final push needed.

Among those helping raise fund are two friends of the club Kathryn Gray and Jeanette Mitchell who are taking on the great North Run in September.

The club aims to have the build completed in the Spring/Summer of 2022.
