Man arrested for attempted murder after Buxton stabbing

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed in the Fairfield area of Buxton.

Police were called to Fairfield Road just after 12.15pm last Thursday afternoon (9 July) to reports that a man had been injured in an altercation.

The 28-year-old from Buxton was found with a stab wound to his chest and was taken to Manchester Royal Hospital, where he remains recovering from his injuries. 

A 26-year-old man, who is also from Buxton, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in Liverpool on Saturday evening (11 July) and remains in custody.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "Detectives remain keen to speak to anyone who was in the Fairfield Road and Victoria Park Road areas at around 12.15pm on Thursday 9 July.

"Of particular interest are any drivers who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of incident or any homeowners or businesses who may have CCTV that shows these areas."
