Friends of Glossop Station are at Manchester Piccadilly on Monday (23 May) alongside colleagues from Network Rail and Northern to try and encourage more people to travel by train.

It is part of efforts taking place during Community Rail Week as local community groups join a national campaign encouraging people across the UK to ‘give the train a try’ for a healthier, greener future.

The Friends are part of the High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership and are encouraging families and individuals who rely on cars to consider the benefits of making at least the occasional switch to other forms of travel.

Community Rail Week, organised by Community Rail Network and sponsored by Rail Delivery Group, will run until 29 May.

The High Peak and Hope Valley Community Rail Partnership will be taking to social media throughout the week and promoting train travel to the Peak District at mainline stations Manchester Piccadilly, Sheffield and Stockport.
