Labour candidate arrives at Buxton count

But he's saying nothing about his chances yet!

We're closing in on a result now for the High Peak constituency.

Labour candidate Jon Pearce has arrived with his team of supporters.

Green candidate Joanna Collins has also been here for a while, although there is no sign of the other candidates just yet.

Speaking to the Glossop Chronicle, Joanna said she hoped the Greens would improve on their percentage share of the vote, but feared they would not break through across the country as the public turned to Labour to force out an unpopular Conservative government.

We asked Jon for a few words, but he said he preferred to wait until after the declaration.

We've been speaking to former Glossop Chronicle editor David Jones tonight too.

He remembered a very cold night out at the last election in December - but predicts Labour will win the High Peak seat tonight, returning Jon Pearce as Labour MP for the constituency.

We are not too far away now from finding out.

You can listen to David's prediction below.
