Two authorities have joined forces in a bid to help raise awareness around mental health and wellbeing.

Derbyshire County Council and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service are working together to provide help and advice around support for mental health, suicide prevention and emotional wellbeing.

This includes producing 8,000 Derbyshire Mental Health and Wellbeing Support guides to be handed out at community events and during home safety visits.

DCC’s Cabinet Member for Health and Communities, Councillor Carol Hart, said: “Good mental health and wellbeing is vital for everyone and we’re pleased to be working in partnership with Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service to spread the word about help and support.”

The handy leaflets contain information about where to access support in a crisis, information about the five ways to wellbeing, as well as important information about fire safety.

Crew Manager Charlie Buxton from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Services Prevention Department said mental health and wellbeing is a high priority and something they take seriously not just for their employees but the wider community.

More mental health support can be found at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/mentalhealth or by calling the Derbyshire Mental Health helpline on 0800 028 0077.
