Increased patrols in Glossopdale after 'suspicious activity' around cars

Police say patrols are being stepped up in the Glossop area after an increase in reports of "suspicious activity" around vehicles.

Glossop Police Safer Neighbourhood Team is asking motorists to be "extra vigilant and careful" after receiving reports of males trying door handles in the Hadfield and Shirebrook areas in particular.

Officers are advising motorists not to leave valuables or tools on display in vehicles overnight, remove items such as sat-navs and wipe the mark from the window where it's been secured, keep doors locked and do not leave windows open.

Any suspicious activity should also be reported to Derbyshire Constabulary via the following methods:

• Phone – call 101 or 999 in an emergency

• Facebook – send a private message to the Facebook page

• Twitter – direct message the contact centre via @DerPolContact

• Website – there are several crime reporting tools on the website at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk or use the online contact form
