The body of a missing man, found in a popular walking spot in Glossop, has been formally identified as that of Christopher Howard.

Glossop Mountain Rescue Team and Derbyshire Police carried out a search of the Shire Hill area last Thursday evening (21 April).

Officers discovered the body of the 37-year-old shortly afterwards.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Constabulary said: "The family of Mr Howard, who is from Glossop, have been made aware and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

"A formal ID has taken place and officers continue to make enquiries into the circumstances of his death, however, at this time, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."

A Glossop MRT spokesperson said: "All members of Glossop Mountain Rescue Team would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends at this difficult time."
