Hundreds to receive second vaccine doses at home

Hundreds of Glossopdale residents will be receiving their second dose of coronavirus vaccine from their own homes in the coming weeks.

Glossop Health Team said they started making home visits on Tuesday (6 April) and have just over 300 more to complete in the next few weeks.

These housebound residents will receive the Oxford-Astra Zeneca vaccine, as they did for the first dose.

Jacqui Grove from the team said: "We are doing them all in the same order we visited in January. Everyone will have their second dose between 11 and 12 weeks after the first."

She is urging people not to ring their GP surgery with any questions or queries, and people will be contacted with an appointment.

Jacqui added: "We will ring you on the morning that we are visiting to give you an approximate time we will be there.

"If you have any questions or queries, please send me a message on Facebook. Please don't ring your GP surgery as they will not be able to tell you when we are coming.

"Please reassure any relatives or friends that they will have their second vaccination within the 12 weeks. The vaccination will be Astra Zeneca - the same as you had for your first dose home vaccinations.

"Take care and stay safe everyone."
