How you can take part in a free family 'Bee in the Park' event

Local people are being invited to be 'active, healthy and happy' at a 'Bee in the Park' event on Saturday 31 July.

Organised by The Running Bee Foundation, it will take place from 10am to 2pm at Roughfields, on Padfield Main Road in Hadfield.

'Bee in the Park', in partnership with Wellbeing Through Sport, is an outdoor, free-to-attend event aiming to teach families how to live better through physical activities, and positive mental health and wellbeing initiatives.

The fun-filled day out will begin with a seminar, delivered by Wellbeing Through Sport, discussing healthy eating, exercise and mental health, followed by an educational MyfirstMile trail.

You can then set off on the trail and take note of all the helpful hints and tips along way on how to be active, healthy and happy. After completing the MyFirstMile trail, a goody bag including a medal will be provided for all.

Kevin Harmer, Event and Sponsorship Manager for The Running Bee Foundation, commented: "Bee in the Park is a great way for families and friends to get together and learn the ins and outs of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

"We are pleased to have partnered with Wellbeing Through Sport, an organisation striving to help young children live better, for the events. We look forward to welcoming everyone on the day!"

Bee in the Park is part of the third stage of the iconic Tour of Tameside and inviting runners, family and friends of runners and members of the general public to come along and enjoy learning how to live life to the fullest.

It's also suitable for all ages and abilities, and you can walk, jog or run.
