Helping the homeless

Glossop Labour Club is staging a benefit gig on Saturday, to raise cash for a Tameside charity that helps the street  homeless.

Every penny from the We Shall Overcome concert will support the work of Pauline Town from the Station pub in Ashton.

Landlady Pauline has become the first port of call of those in trouble as she provides around 60 packed lunches every day for those in need.

We Shall Overcome is a group of musicians and was set up in 2015 by Glossop resident Matt Hill. Its aim is to help those affected by austerity.

The benefit night at the Chapel Street club starts at 7.30pm, tickets are £5 on the door, concessions are £3.

There will also be a collection of items for the homeless for Pauline to distribute.

Those bringing gear can get in for £3.
