Health walks for everyone

The weekly High Peak Walks For Health resume on Thursday morning.

The group will meet for the ‘progression’ walk at 10am outside Glossop railway station on Norfolk Street.

Next Tuesday’s ‘easy’ walk is also in Glossop and sets off from the front of Tesco, Glossop Brook Road, at 1.30pm.

For those who prefer their walks more than a bit tougher, there’s one which is described as ‘strenuous’ from Peak Forest (SK115794) at 1pm next Wednesday (23 October).

The walks are free and open to everyone. To see if a particular one is suitable for you, here are the gradings:

  • Easy: Lasting up to 90 minutes and may include some stiles and hill walking.
  • Progression: Up to two hours and will include up-hill walking and it’s best to take a drink.
  • Strenuous: Longer and more challenging which last for up to three hours, usually including stiles, hills and rough terrain, but at a pace to suit everyone.

It’s advised that you take a drink and a snack for a stop along the way.
