Hadfield Infants School is looking for readers

Do you like listening to stories?

If so and you have a couple of hours to spare each week then Hadfield Infants School wants to hear from you.

The school is looking for people who are willing to sit down with the children and listen to them read.

Head teacher Alison Barnes said: “Reading is a priority at the school at the moment. With Covid-19 and children being stuck at home they’ve not always had the chance to sit with somebody and read aloud to them. We’d like volunteers to come into school and listen to the children read.

“The idea is that each volunteer listens to the same child each week so they can encourage them and see how they are improving.”

Volunteers will have to commit to the same time each week. Training will be given. All volunteers will have to undergo a DBS check and when that is completed they will be allowed into the school. The check involves filling out a form which the school staff will then process. Anyone who is interested can contact the school on 01457 853958.
