Glossop teacher has got it all mapped out

Visitors to teacher Nicole Redican's home are never short of a talking point.

They take one look at the map of Hadfield drawn on the chimney breast. Then ask why?

Well, as we revealed earlier this month, Nicole who is geography co-ordinator at Glossop’s Duke of Norfolk Primary School, just loves maps.

Nicole is also a fan of Manchester artist Dave Gee who is famous for creating doodle- like creations of North West locations.

So she commissioned Dave, who works under the name of ‘Dave Draws’, to visit her home in Hadfield and draw a map on her wall.

Dave did - and he also threw in a stylised map of Padfield for good measure.

Nicole, delighted with the result, said: “It’s the first time Dave has done a map of Hadfield and a mural on a wall in this area.

“It’s a bespoke map so has places of local interest, plus my friends’ houses.

“When he posted the photos on Instagram there were so many comments that he did two posts about it.

“Suffice to say, I am absolutely delighted with it and I’m looking forward to the times when my friends walk in and see it for the first time.”

Dave could soon be back in Glossop on a second commission.

Nicole said: “The headteacher at Duke of Norfolk School, Esther Bland, was so impressed when I showed her the photos that she is asking Dave to do a map of Glossop on an outdoor panel at school for the children to enjoy.”
