Glossop resident's campaign to keep people warm this winter

An Old Glossop resident has launched a campaign to raise funds in order to help tackle fuel poverty this winter.

Tim Littlejohn-Howard told the Chronicle that he had an ‘epiphany moment’ this December.

While heating his own home to keep out the chill, he thought about those that couldn’t afford to keep warm this winter.

Tim created a GoFundMe page for donations towards ‘Winter Fuel Bundles’ worth £20 from Glossop Firewood and Fuel Suppliers on Surrey Street.

The bundle includes 1 WonderFuel Smokeless Fuel, 2 Kiln Dried Hardwood Net Bags, 1 Kiln Dried Kindling and 1 Fireglow 24 Firelighters.

The company are local suppliers that Tim regularly uses. With their help, he can distribute these fuel packs across Glossop.

They can be accessed via Glossopdale Foodbank, from Glossop Firewood and Fuel Suppliers, or by sending a message via the Warm Hearth Facebook page - at no cost to those in need of this service.

Tim used to be a mental health social worker and has come from a family of caring individuals.

He said: “I know what it’s like to not be able to afford fuel, that’s why it’s so important to help. Especially in rural areas of Glossop, there are lots of houses that aren’t insulated.”

“Glossop Firewood and Fuel Suppliers are a friendly team that have been absolutely fantastic.”

The GoFundMe page has already received £755 of a £1,000 donation target. But Tim hopes to continue collecting donations after Christmas and distributing beyond Glossop, as he believes the cause is needed all year round.
