Glossop man inflicted serious injury on victim in attack

Glossop man Ashly Cook has been given a suspended jail term for a charge of assault.

The 33-year-old, of Dinting Road, pleaded guilty at Tameside magistrates to the charge, after admitting that he assaulted an individual at The Smithy Fold, Victoria Street, Glossop, back in December 2019.

Magistrates heard the incident, which had happened on December 10, was an unprovoked assault in a public place and had resulted in a serious injury being inflicted on the victim.

He was given a 26 weeks jail term, suspended for 18 months, plus was ordered to carry out 200 hours unpaid work.
