Glossop charity's garden gets helping hand from national scheme

A Glossop-based charity has benefitted from a nationwide collection from garden centres.

British Garden Centres launched a Christmas initiative through the sales of their real cut Christmas trees.

50p from each real cut Christmas tree sale has been added to a donation fund, which has gifted 52 children’s hospices with garden and bird care gifts.

In Glossop, Reuben’s Retreat has been given £500 worth of bird feeders, food and other items for the garden.

Overall, £25,000 worth of gifts have been donated. 26,000 Christmas trees have been on sale across all 58 British Garden Centres locations, with each one participating in this initiative.

A spokesperson said: "This project was chosen to help bring a smile to the faces of the children living in these hospices and their families during the Christmas season. The donations will invite birds and wildlife to the gardens for them all to see up close and enjoy.”
