Glossop Business Network's Expo hailed a success

Businesses from all over the High Peak came together for Glossop Business Network's latest Expo this week.

Hundreds of members of the local community met face to face as businesses collaborated, networked and exhibited at Glossopdale School and Sixth Form in Hadfield on Monday.

Organiser Kathy Ford established Glossop Business Network 17 years ago and this is the third Expo she’s organised.

Kathy, who is from Hadfield, told us: "This was due to take place last year, the day before the UK was placed into lockdown. The last 18 months has been tough for all of us, but so many local businesses have suffered from the forced closure. It was really lovely for people to be given the chance to meet in person and discuss their business needs with our stall holders.”

The event has been hailed a success.

Kathy added: “I’ve had a lot of positive feedback. People were delighted to be meeting face to face again and re-connecting with people they haven’t been to meet over the last 18 months.

"I am expecting a lot of calls over the next few weeks asking me for contact details of businesses they met at the Expo. There’s a lot more businesses in the local area than people realise and it was good for them to get their faces out there to find new customers.

“The effect of the Expo won’t be immediate, but over the coming weeks and months I hope that introductions made on the day will lead to an increase in business for locals.

"People came from far and wide. We had companies from around the High Peak and Tameside as well as Glossop.”

So will it become an annual event following the success of this year’s Expo?

Kathy said: "The jury’s out on that at the moment. It takes a lot more work than people realise to pull it all together, but I’m sure there will be more in future."
