Funny times ahead at Glossop Comedy Festival

The Oakwood pub on George Street in Glossop.

The wait is almost over! Glossop Comedy Festival is taking place this weekend.

It's at The Oakwood pub on High Street West on Friday 8, Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 October.

London-based comedian Dave Chawner will be there with his new show - Underdog. It’s all about how dogs are better than people.

Dave said: “The idea came to me during lockdown when people doing mundane everyday jobs became the true heroes by keeping the UK going.

“Sometimes the most important people, places and things can be the most overlooked...like dogs. A dog will never ask you to lose weight, earn more money or get that promotion.”

Dave hopes his show will be uplifting for troubled times. A silly show with some serious messages.

As well as being a comedian, Dave is an author and mental health advocate. He is patron of the award-winning Midlands-based charity First Steps, a Fellow of The Mental Health Collective and a founding member of The Speaker’s Collective. He is Mental Health First Aid trained and an ambassador for Mind.

Whether you enjoy stand-up, character, or musical comedy, there will be something for everyone during the festival - which will feature 16 very different shows.

For full details of all the performances, you can pick up a guide to the shows from The Oakwood or view the listings on the official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/glossopcomedyfestival

All shows are free with the option to donate after, but tickets must be booked in advance from https://www.wegottickets.com/glossopcomedyfestival
