Free sports activities gives Roughfields campaign a boost

Mark Jennings and Steve Brackenridge from PAS carrying out an activity at a local school.

A campaign to save a piece of open land between Hadfield and Padfield from a housing development has received a boost.

High Peak Borough Council has earmarked Roughfields for more than a hundred new homes.

Campaigners trying to save the space are keen to prove to HPBC that it’s a valuable asset which is used regularly by local people.

Now Peak Active Sports is to offer free sports activities for young people on Roughfields every Saturday morning for six weeks, starting on Saturday 6 November.

Sessions will run from 10am to midday for age groups 7 to 11 years old and 12 to 16 years old.

Padfield borough councillor Ollie Cross is sponsoring the activities from his Councillors' Initiative Fund and Steve Brackenridge from PAS is organising them.

Each week there will be 20 spaces available on a first come, first served basis.
