It has been a busy time for the volunteers who give their time to the area's mountain rescue teams with four callouts in three days.

On Sunday (17 October), Kinder MRT were called to assist a woman who has suffered an ankle injury while walking near Kinder Reservoir.

She was carried on a stretcher and then transported via the MRT Land Rover to meet up with an East Midlands Ambulance Service crew, who took her on to hospital for further treatment.

On Saturday (16 October), Buxton MRT went to the aid of a walker who had slipped on a path alongside the River Goyt, sustaining a painful lower leg injury.

The team’s paramedic was able to assess the injury and provide pain relief before fitting a splint to immobilise the leg.

The patient was carried on a stretcher cross the river to the road for re-assessment by the paramedic and to await the ambulance.

Edale MRT were called out on Saturday to help rescue a climber who fractured their ankle in a fall at Stanage Edge.

He was carried on down to the car park where the East Midlands Ambulance service crew were waiting to take him to Chesterfield Royal Hospital for X-rays and treatment.

On Friday (15 October), a woman was airlifted to hospital after sustaining a lower leg injury while walking near the top of Sandy Heys on Kinder Scout.

Both Glossop and Kinder MRTs were called to assist along with the Coastguard helicopter who once the woman was winched on board flew her directly to hospital in Sheffield.
