Fine for couple who travelled 200 miles to Mam Tor

A couple who made a 200-mile journey from South London to a popular Peak District landmark have been fined by police.

In a blatant breach of current coronavirus lockdown restrictions, the pair had made the trip with their child last weekend "to camp for the night".

They were discovered by officers from Hope Valley Safer Neighbourhood Team in the Mam Tor car park on Saturday evening (6 March).

Police said they were "sent on their way" and each fined £200.
