Entries open for Buxton Festival Fringe 2021

Entries are already starting to come in for this year's Buxton Festival Fringe and people are being encouraged to get involved.

The arts festival will be taking place between 7 and 25 July.

It's £50 to enter and you can sign up online by Sunday 18 April.

Organisers said in a Facebook post: "Buxton Festival Fringe is open access, which means anyone can enter an event/exhibition/weird-thing-they-invented, online or IRL - what could you bring?

"Check out our 'Take Part' pages for more information, including updated venue details. Ingenuity is the name of the game for 2021. We look forward to hearing from you!"

Regarded as one of the largest open-access arts festivals in the country, Buxton Fringe - which is ran by dedicated volunteers - goes from strength to strength every year and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2019.

Last year's event went ahead as usual but, despite being adapted due to the coronavirus pandemic, was still regarded as a huge success.

It meant a host of online productions and even performances available by phone, as well as many with an interactive element, but organisers were delighted to have reached 100 different entries over the 19 days.

The 2020 festival was Stephen Walker's first Fringe as chair and he commented: "Last year’s switch to a mainly online Fringe with over 100 entries proved that we will put on a Fringe whatever the circumstances.”
