Drivers warned after speeding in Charlesworth

Four drivers have been warned about their speeding after police kept a watchful eye on motorists on a main road in Charlesworth.

Police Community Support Officers Brian Buller and Kyle Harvey, from Glossop Police's Safer Neighbourhood Team, completed their latest speed awareness event on the A626 Marple Road.

They were on the road on Friday afternoon (12 March) between 2pm and 3pm.

The speed limit is 30 miles per hour and - out of a total of 407 vehicles which went past the team - four were driving in excess of 36 miles per hour.

Police say the drivers or registered keepers of the four vehicles in question will receive a letter of advice about their speeding.

They added: "We ask all people to stick to the speed limit and respect our town and its residents.

"Many drivers believe speeding is not dangerous, even though it poses a serious risk to all other road users."
