Dove Holes man charged after firearms equipment seized

A 20-year-old man from Dove Holes has been charged as part of a police investigation into tackling the use of firearms and gang crime in Greater Manchester.

Aaron Melville, of Walker Brow, has been charged with possession of a firearm.

He will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court on Thursday 3 December.

It followed a raid of his home by officers from Greater Manchester Police's Serious and Organised Crime Group on Tuesday morning (1 December) at around 8.30am.

Following the search, a quantity of ammunition, firearms components including barrels and other tools believed to have been used in the illegal manufacture of ammunition were seized by detectives and Melville was arrested.

Police have released a photo which shows evidence bags filled with handgun casings, and ammunition magazines which were discovered by officers.

Detective Constable Christopher Chinnery, of GMP's Serious and Organised Crime Group, said: "This is a significant discovery as part of our commitment to tackle the use of firearms and gang-related crime in Greater Manchester.

"These items could have led to devastating consequences and we remain committed to tackling organised crime across Greater Manchester."
