'Digital Champions' needed to help support digitally excluded people

Glossop and Tameside residents interested in becoming a 'Digital Champion' are being invited to an online session to find out more about the opportunity.

The Digital Wellbeing Project - a partnership between Glossop charity PCrefurb and Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust - is looking for volunteers to work with digitally excluded people to help them to access the online world.

Anyone who takes part would be supporting lonely and isolated people to learn the basics that will help them on their way to becoming more connected to their friends, family and community.

People don't have to be a technology expert and training can be given, but anyone who knows their way around a smartphone, laptop or tablet - such as being able to send emails, connect with people on social media, book appointments and shop online - is ideal.

Local charity Action Together is holding a virtual meeting on Thursday morning (25 March) at 10.30am. To book on the session, visit https://www.actiontogether.org.uk/civicrm/event/info
