Deadline looming to have say on Whaley Bridge Neighbourhood Plan

Green spaces is one area covered in the neighbourhood plan proposed for Whaley Bridge.

This week is the last chance for residents to have their say on the draft policies included in the Whaley Bridge Neighbourhood Plan.

For the last four years, volunteers from the Vision4Whaley group have been working hard to create a legal document which will help shape the town for the next decade.

They have been holding a consultation which will close at midday on Saturday (2 July) and want to get people's opinions on the plan.

The questionnaire can be completed online at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/VTFGWND or paper copies can be collected from Mechanics Institute on Market Street in Whaley Bridge. If you add your contact details, you will be in with a chance of winning a £50 local shopping voucher.

Martin Thomas, Chair of Vision4Whaley, said: "Thanks to everyone who has completed the questionnaire already and those who dropped by at one of our events. If you missed us you can still drop in to Footsteps on Market Street on Thursday 30th where you will find us there from 2pm to 3.30pm."

A neighbourhood plan gives communities more power to create a shared vision for where they live.

The plans put together by Vision4Whaley, which is supported and partly funded by Whaley Bridge Town Council, assess four key areas for residents of Whaley Bridge, Furness Vale, Taxal and Fernilee. These are employment and housing; heritage-led regeneration and conservation; environment and climate change, and transport and movement.

After the consultation closes, the pre-submission plans will be submitted to High Peak Borough Council for scrutiny and then returned to residents next year where a referendum will take place to see if the neighbourhood plan should be adopted.
